“Why do I rob banks?
Because that’s where the money is.”

The Beverly Center is a big place… a giant mall.
There’s about 20 acres of retail floor-space under that roof.
I parked in the parking garage once
while I wandered through the giant mall,
my bags of cactus samples hanging from my hands…
There are some good gourmet restaurants in that big huge space.
That’s why I went there.
Someone lives in a mountain gorge
cloud robe and sunset tassels
holding sweet plants that he would share.
But the road is long and hard
burdened with regrets and doubts,
old and unaccomplished,
called by others crippled,
he stands alone steadfast.

This is off Santa Monica Blvd in Century City..
right next to Beverly Hills
It’s not as well known,
but there’s probably more money in Century City.

‘Country Bumpkin’
~Cal Smith~
He walked into the bar and parked his lanky frame upon a tall barstool
And with a long soft Southern drawl said
“I’ll just have a glass of anything that’s cool”
A barroom girl with hard and knowing eyes slowly looked him up and down
And she thought “I wonder how on earth
That country bumpkin found his way to town”
She said “Hello, country bumpkin”
“How’s the frost out on the pumpkin?”
“I’ve seen some sights but, man, you’re somethin’”
“Where’d ya come from, country bumpkin?”
I’ve seen some sights… and life is something
