Regarding shipment of cactus to New York
We got an e-mail from a person in New York state asking if we could send a catalog over to them, and also if a permit is required for shipment to New York state. Here is my reply…We don’t have a print catalog since the plants are not always in season for selling as planting material. For planting material, we do have to get the inspection for NY state. We have to pay $60 for the inspection, and drive 20 miles to the station for it. So we charge $100 for the inspection. The catalog pages for leaves for planting is at http://www.rivenrock.com/catalog2.htmlWe can sell leaves for eating without the inspection. But young ones for eating are not going to grow as well. And most of these only have young leaves for a few weeks once or twice a year… then they grow into the monsters we sell for planting. For eating, through the year we sell the Nopalea grande which we have at http://www.rivenrock.com/ediblecactus.htm It requires no permit as it is sold as fresh food… an agricultural product, not a nursery product. We usually have it available through the entire year… although we must admit to occasions when deer herds, or heavy frost have interrupted both quality and quantity for months at a time. But we’re working on that, and have kept supply going uninterrupted for over a year now (knocks on wood).Thank you for your inquiry, and do rest assured that we can send the fresh leaves for eating to every state in the USA with no permit needed. You must be logged in to post a comment. |
