ARTISTS GUILD SPONSORS WORKSHOP
The Artists Guild of the Santa Ynez Valley is sponsoring a one-day workshop by Christine Kenny-McCowen on Saturday, September 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Los Alamos Senior Center, 690 Bell Street in Los Alamos.
This workshop, which starts at 10 a.m. sharp, is a way to explore the wonderful world of watercolor with an accomplished artist, share her knowledge, and get her support and encouragement. Participants can bring a work in progress or photos; Christine will demonstrate capturing the light in creating beautiful landscape paintings. This workshop is for adults only with some drawing experience. The cost is $50 for members of the Artists Guild and $60 for non-members. Because space is limited pre-paid reservations are required. Artists should come prepared to paint with watercolor paints and brushes, pencil and eraser, 300 lb paper and a hair dryer if you have one. Artists should bring a bag lunch or go to a local restaurant for lunch.
Christine Kenny-McCowen has been painting for many years. She was first introduced to watercolors by Roger Armstrong at the Art Institute of Southern California in Laguna Beach. She characterizes her watercolors combining elements of realism with contemporary and Asian influences. Multi-talented Christine is also exploring landscapes in oils and figurative work to broaden her experience. Since 1985 she has ben accepted into many juried shows and has won competitions. She is an active member of the Santa Barbara Art Association, Goleta Art association, the Los Padres Watercolor Society, and AGSYV.
